This wrap-around library is the ideal place to get lost from the nagging demands of the everyday.  I would sit here all day long, doing what I like best: reading. The masculine undertone decor is surprisingly calming, with a hint of sophistication.  And I bet this room looks twice as good under the dimming lights of desk lamps at night.  Le sigh!

Also, this smart and innovative bookshop is right up my alley.  And this poignant article about the grave state of the novel confirms my passion for fiction over non-fiction.

If you had space in your house, would you have a dedicated room for books?  Or do you prefer having them all around the house?  I think I would go for the library in a flash.

On my nightstand

I'm so happy to say I have taken up reading again. As a stay-at-home mom of a high needs baby, I had pushed my writing and reading aside to care for her.  Since day one there has been no time for engaging hobbies or cerebral activities like reading.  And then I realize I was craving something intellectual, and I had to make the time, otherwise I'd never read again.

The Iconic Alphabet

Who doesn't have fun-packed memories about learning the alphabet? I know I do. From the first encounters of this iconic learning milestone through song and then by watching the dancing letter shapes on Sesame Street, the alphabet is the most fun-filled learning block in our language development. Bedtime stories

One of the most exciting moments I can't wait to experience with my daughter is storybook time. While I was in Miami for the holidays, I bought two Spanish books with classic children stories that I know are hard to find where I live. One has all the classic stories, an international recipe, of all time. The other is a more gender specific one, which includes little rhymes and classic songs from the Spanish speaking world.

Of course, my mom also bought her a story book.  This one in English with all the Disney classics.  It's a big little book with condensed stories and graphics. 

I once read somewhere, pun intended, that if you initiate your children early into the wonderful world of reading and they see their parents reading, chances are you will have a little reader of your own.  As simple as that.  And it's true, that's what happened to me!
