Home redecoration

Remember this post when I said I was redecorating our space to fit our growing family's needs? Well, this is how the living turned out. Since I don't own a photographic camera, these camera phone pictures will have to do. The objective was achieved: We decluttered, and now have more space.

{Sweet potato burger with avocado}

Today's recipe comes from Kathy Patalsky of Healthy Happy Life -one of the few authentic vegan food sites online. She also contributes her yummy recipes for Babble's family kitchen. I can't wait to try this recipe.  What really attracts me to this recipe is its versatility.  I could substitute sweet potato with any other hardy root vegetable, such as yams, squash, yucca or boniato (a less sweet version of sweet potato). Find recipe below. Bon apetite!

The way we were

Although February is almost over, it's Black History month,  It was my intention to post something about it, but I ran out of time.  Here's a visual reminder of one of our most darkest moments.

Cuteness

I recently discovered how much Emilu loves the rocking motion. On a recent trip to the playground she was instantly hooked on the swing and now all she desires is to be swinging in the rocking chair. Simply adorable.

Ali Wentworth is on babble!

Have you heard the awesome news?  Ali Wentworth has signed up for Babble's Daily Shot with Ali Wentworth!  I think she's so awesome and I'm already hooked to her daily shot segments.  Her new book is out and I can't wait to start reading it. Welcome girl!

Have a rad weekend!

Is it true that Instagram is coming to Android?  I have been hearing these rumors for the past  months and I just can't find a reliable source that would confirm this.  In the meantime, I do my photo editing using Lightbox, which is good but is no Instagram.  I have been adamant about buying an Apple computer all these years.  I tend to be pretty loyal to my products and my Dell throughout the years has been so good to me.  But, lately all the cool and innovative technology has been coming from Apple, and what's a girl to do? Anyway, enough about my rants.  I hope you guys have a nice weekend.  I have a few projects to finish around the house.  The patio is getting a pre-Spring cleaning, and my husband and I will enjoy a dinner & movie NIGHT on Saturday, watching this film and eating this dish. As always friends, enjoy your weekend.  Here are few links I have enjoyed this week.

The flying baby

Talk about innovative photography. Forget about instagram and lightbox. How about erasing yourself from the pictures to capture your baby in the air. Photographer Rachel Hulin is doing just that. Air brushing herself out of the baby pictures. See for yourself, it's truly amazing.

Lovely futon covers

Do you own an old futon, which has seen better days?  Too functional to throw out and yet too ugly to keep in a conspicuous place in the house, the futon can be a great extra seating/sleeping place for guests.  I have found a website which turns the old futon into a stylish piece of furniture.  Tonic Living makes amazing futon covers. These are my favorites.

{Baked calamarata pasta with arugula pesto, almonds, fresh mozzarella and cherry tomatoes}

Lately I have been searching for the perfect baked pasta recipe.  Voila! I think I have found it!  This dish looks so yummy I cannot wait to try it this weekend.  Plus, I've never done arugula pesto before, so this intrigues me, because I love arugula with feta in a lemon vinaigrette.  It's actually one of my favorite salads to prepare.  This recipe comes to you via Food52.  Bon apetit, my friends!

Handing out silliness

Some days around the house can turn playful and unexpected with a crawling baby.  Today is about laundry, cooking, and organizing, but also playing and remembering to take pictures.  I still haven't finished putting up all the frames on the living room wall.  But I'm getting closer.  Here are a few shots of Emilu and I being silly around the house.

Inspiration: Room with a view

Writing is all about inspiration, right?  It's also about discipline. But sometimes a writer needs encouragement and stimulation and these rooms are both, a writer's fancy and personal getaways that make any moment dreamy and worthwhile.  I'm musing over these inspirational views. Would you please join me?
